Blaser BBF 97 Hunting

I went to my blind this morning, in Minnesota and carried my R8 in 9.3X62. I jumped a deer off of the plowed up soybean field in the dark. The wind blew hard all morning and it was cold. I went back and grabbed some breakfast and went back to the stand to catch up on my reading. Only thing different is I took my BBF97 in 9.3X74/20 gauge. I set there all day, did see a hen pheasant, but she was not legal to shoot. The shooting house I was hunting was not very well designed, with the windows too high, and they did not open far enough to give you much flexibility when making a shot. Also it was placed too close to where the deer would be crossing. I argued about the placement, but nobody ever pays any attention to my thoughts about stand placement. About 45 minutes before dark, I looked up during a sweep, and two deer where facing me about 40 yards away, looking right at the stand that had been placed right in the middle of there crossing. The window was at a really bad place too make the shot, and I ended up laying the gun on its side, and put a round strait into the middle of the largest ones chest. It flipped it around in its tracks and was done, the other jumped out about 15 yards, and offered me another frontal shot, but was at about a 22 degree angle. I put a 20 gauge slug there as well. It hit just inside the front right leg, and exited out the left side. It ran about 45 yards, and was down in a little strip of popler trees. I knew it was hit well by the way it ran with its belly low to the ground. I recovered the 250 grain Accubond bullet under the skin of the front of the right ham. It really did not make much of a mess considering my shot placement, and the close range. The slug had an exit hole that was about 3X4 inches in the other deer that was right in the ribcage, and very little damage that extended past that. I am very pleased with the Brenneke 3 inch 20 gauge slugs doing such an excellent job at about 55 yards.

I am very shocked to see such pictures of hunting. It is very rude to kill those poor animals just for fun. One will not share or post such things to the public, so that a wrong message will convey to them. There are many other things to take as a good hobby where you do not have to hurt anyone else.

Getting killed is very natural for a wild animal.
